In Sun City Center's climate, authentic sabal palm thatch typically lasts 3–5 years before thinning noticeably. Direct sun, salt air near the coast, and heavy rainfall can shorten that lifespan. We recommend an annual visual inspection — if you can see daylight through multiple sections, it's time to re-thatch.
